Alicia Hellier

Head Coach, LTA Level 5, TDA, Licensed Coach.

Having played at Brightwell as a junior and reached county standard Alicia returned to coach at the club in 1998. Educated at Farnborough Hill and the University of Birmingham (History / Sport and Recreation) and then a post graduate MSc (Sociology of Sport), she holds a full LTA coaching license and has achieved all the LTA coaching levels, obtaining the highest development coaching award.

Alicia has implimented a full coaching programme at Brightwell for children from the age of two up to adults, from recreational players to county representatives and links with local schools (mainly St Polycarp’s and St Andrew’s). She has worked as a teacher (A Level PE and History), led tennis tours to South Africa, worked as a sports journalist writing about football and cricket and is co-author of Sporting Travels of a Karoo Son.

The multi sport courses have been developed after studying physical education world-wide and with the desire to improve childrens skills and let them try as many different activities as possible before they specialise on a particular sport/sports.


Josh Bence

PTR Coach

Josh started having lessons at Brightwell when he was 5 years old. Aged 9 he won the Surrey Orange team event with Sam Axton and has played in the performance programme ever since, representing the club at all levels. He has just graduated from the University of Aberystwyth and is looking to pursue a career in tennis, sports development or teaching.
