Court hire is free for all members, all courts are available to members. Courts can be booked up to six days in advance by using the whiteboard in the clubhouse. Some times are pre-booked for matches, coaching or club sessions. Adult, senior and student members, as well as junior members (who pay the £72 a year), may book any available court; junior members who pay £24 a year can book court 5.
Court 5 is available for non-members to hire at £10 an hour. The court is locked by a numbered code that is given out when payment is made.
Access to the main gates and clubhouse is by two separate keys. These are included in your joining fee and membership pack.
Within the club in the corridor are the court keys.
Court 5 is accessed externally by coded padlock (ask a coach for the combinations) or internally.
Junior members can ask the coaching staff for the code to court 5 if they wish to use it when nobody is at the club.
Members may bring guests. Each guest may only play a maximum of six times in a year. After this hey have to join the club. The visitors fee is £3 for an adult and £1.50 for a child. Please sign their name in the visitor’s book before they play to ensure they are covered by the club’s insurance policy.
Please put the money in the honesty box or hand it to a coach.
Please ensure your guests pay this fee as it is an important source of income to the club and, if collected fully, can avoid future subs increases.
Members are responsible for making sure their guests pay.
Floodlight cost £2.50 for 30 minutes per court. Tokens can be bought from the coaches.
Floodlights cannot be used beyond 10.30pm.
Members and their guests as asked to wear recognised sports clothing and tennis shoes.
Correct footwear is very important as trainers with black or ribbed soles or casual shoes can be dangerous and also damage the court surface. No jeans or bare torsos.
Remember to lock the courts and club house when you leave, turn off the heaters and shut any windows. If you see anything untoward please contact a coach or committee member.
All the coaching within the club is organised through our Head Coach Alicia Hellier. Adult individual and group lesson run during the day time and can be booked by the school half term.
There are also drills and fitness sessions which are open to all (although have to be pre-booked) on a Tuesday morning from 9.30-10.30am and on a Monday evening 7-8pm. Adult Club sessions run all year round and are open to all members. You can just turn up and play with whoever else is there.
Mondays and Fridays 9-10.30am
1st April – 30th September: Tuesdays 6.30 onwards. This is also open to juniors who play in the adult teams.
Junior Club/match play sessions run on a Saturday morning. These are suitable for those
able to play yellow ball, full court tennis.
9-10.30am Years 6, 7 and 8 (Year 5 by invitation)
10.30-12 noon Years 9,10 and 11 (Year 8 by invitation).
Those attending are expected to be available to represent the Brightwell Junior Teams.
Every year Brightwell Tennis club are allocated Wimbledon Championship tickets, which go into a
ballot. All paid up members are eligible to enter the club ballot and if you are a member of the LTA’s
British Tennis scheme and have a BTM number. This can be easily obtained at no cost by going
